I think a lot of costumes get a bad rating because most people expect a lot out of them, like being of super good quality. But unless you are willing to pay $100 for a handmade costume, you just need to expect that most cosumes are going to be made out of cheap fake satin and probably won't last a long time. Unfortunately, all costumes tend to be expensive for what you get, so as long as you have those expectations, you will be very happy with this product. This is a typically made costume that you would see at Target or the Disney store. I bought it for my daughter's 3rd birthday and she was thrilled and the costume looks beautiful, we are very happy with the purchase. It fits a little big on her, but hopefully she will grow into it, she doesn't seem to mind. It's what I would expect Cinderellas dress to look like and would definitely recommend this product.
